About
John Adam Huggins was born in Toronto, Canada and began his formal training as an artist at the age of 7 when he took up figure skating. He trained with some of the top talent in his country for over a decade before leaving the sport to train in mixed martial arts. His studies into their principles and philosophies led him to a deeper exploration of the act of observing, which soon became his focus when he took up photography.

Since 2000, Huggins has been collaborating with a wide range of publications including the New York Times and International Herald Tribune, ELLE, Der Spiegel, and COLORS magazine; along with humanitarian organizations such as the United Nations, Unitus microfinance, and Water.org

His photographic work has been exhibited around the world in venues which include Le Centre Pompidou (Paris), La Triennale di Milano (Milan), and the Shanghai Art Museum.

He has also been invited to lecture at venues which include the City University of New York, Columbia University's School of Journalism, and the TED conferences.

Huggins has been honored with several awards over his career, including a scholarship to FABRICA - Benetton's creative research center in Italy, a Human Rights Press Award from Amnesty international, and a fellowship from the TED conferences, which chose him as "an individual who has shown unusual accomplishment, exceptional courage, and world-changing potential".
